SF Archives Interactive Visualizer

UI Design

A proposed application for navigating the Georgia Tech Archives’ Science Fiction Magazine Collection. Envisioned as an interactive exhibit at a dedicated library kiosk, the Visualizer decouples the contents of magazines from their native linear format and allows the user to explore the collection by magazine, author, and text type.

Information Integrity Online

Combatting disinformation in the digital sphere has become the Sisyphean task of the Information Age––especially in the volatile arena of elections. In this project, my teammates and I assessed the potential impact of disinformation on Georgia's political elections, conducted user research on our selected population, sketched out several approaches to education, and prototyped one possible 'solution.'

FarmerEX User Research

How can we tackle food insecurity in urban cores? In partnership with the Atlanta Mobile Market, my Junior Design Team sought to build a prototype digital platform––tentatively called 'FarmerEX'––to connect people living with food insecurity in Atlanta with local farmers. I played a large role in conducting User Research for both our producer and consumer populations, and singlehandedly wrote the ensuing report; I also designed the lo-fi desktop prototype of the producer application and helped with the user experience report.

SF Archives Inventory &
Data Enrichment

This project, developed for the Science Fiction Archives at the Georgia Institute of Technology, significantly reduces the time required to add new volume data to existing box data in ArchivesSpace resources. Given bulk, barebones data on existing inventory, the process enriches inventory information with issue and volume data from the Internet Speculative Fiction Database and outputs the data in a ready-to-upload format for the archive management system ArchivesSpace.

Media Architectures, C, Adobe Creative Suite

For my Media and Device Architectures course, I coded a complete game in the C programming language within an emulation of the restricted hardware environment of the Gameboy Advance. I personally illustrated all graphics in a combination of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and converted them into the character sheets readable in the Gameboy environment.

The Future is Female, Volume 2

Summary

  • Conducted research on 1970s feminist science fiction for Library of America's The Future is Female, Volume Two under supervision of editor Lisa Yaszek.
  • Read short stories and novellas from a wide array of authors, created notes, and conversed with fellow researchers on literary merit.
  • Collected and processed all data as provided by other researchers using formulas within Google Sheets.
  • Undertook genealogical and historical research on authors in order to write author biographies.
